Stash Flash 08

Here it is, where on earth did all of this yarn come from? Then there's a photo of the aftermath, and then I get to put it all away.

As much as I enjoy knitting these, I think I've had my fill for now.

I also have the Swallowtail shawl looming.

Poetry mitten inside

Will it work, can you see it? The inside of the mitten, it looks so neat and orderly. A far cry from intarsia chaos.

It worked! Phew.

I love these mittens

Poetry mittens. I love them, they are so much fun to knit watching the words form and knowing how the letters take shape. I found then to be much simpler because you know what an "E" looks like, it's not just a random patterning of color - which is also enjoyable but... just different. When I turned my first completed mitten in side out, I just loved this.Add Image

There should be an image here. I am having Luddite technical difficulties, so maybe not. It's driving me nuts.

I had to let the second mitten of that pair hibernate since it will be a Christmas gift for my old friend TY, and I have another pair to give in June. The second pair will go to Ms. C, and are brown, cream, and a pea soup green. I have already gotten past the thumb and I wish I could ignore everything and finish them. If I did, then I'd have to start on the Swallowtail Shawl, which is making me nervous becasue I have never done lace of that scale before, and I can't wrap my brain around how the thing knits up. I guess I'll find out soon. The Swallowtail will be for Ms. S, who is getting married in August - but ssshhhhh! it's a surprise to be given in June.

Still sick

Still feel like crap, now with a new and better cough.

I have finished the mittens for C#1. I didn't realize his thumb was poking through on his old mittens. I also finished one of the poetry mittens. If I were feeling better I'd run around and photograph and get pictures up, but...see above.

I'm planning teacher knitting for the end of the year:

Swallowtail shawl
Poetry mittens
Hat and fingerless mitts

I think I'm insane.

Sick!

Oh, I have been so sick. I have been in bed for days, and today I actually got out of my pajamas. This cold has been a killer, and almost every blog I read has someone saying the same thing. So I'll just go ahead and jump on the bandwagon here...

To Knit List for 2008

If I don't write this somewhere I will forget and then remember when I have a million other things to do. I suppose I could have done this at a more fitting time, like, oh, say, the start of the new year, but it didn't happen.

Here it goes:
Poetry mittens in brown for Ms. C

Scarf and fingerless mitts for Mrs. H

Mohair sweater for Aunt G

Poetry mittens for T (1/2 way done...don't ask why....but these will be a Christmas gift, for 2008)
Socks, loads of socks, to fill my sock drawer and a couple pairs each for my family members

Fairly Easy Fair Isle for me

Ribby cardi for me

Salt Lake City Dale of Norway sweater for C#2 ( well, I'm going to start it this year)

A couple of hats for JB, who needed them last year and still does need them

Mittens for both A & L

A hat for me

It seems like a lot of knitting for me, doesn't it? That's because I have only 2 items that I have made for myself. A summer sweater in white cotton, and a calorimetry. I had no scarf and it's winter. My friend Hermitella pitied me and made me a lovely mohair linen scarf.
