Things are progressing.

Update.

Mohair, sleeve #1 is finished, sleeve #2 is 3/4 of the way done.

I also got the chance to measure it on Aunt G., I've got to lengthen the back by another inch or two, and also lengthen the sleeve another inch or so. Sadly, I don't know that she'll appreciate this sweater. Oh, well. Now my mom is showing signs of interest in the sweater - no, not as in "Wow, you did a great job!" No, I meant as in "I'd like one of those, too."

I put in a bit more time on the Fairly Easy Fair Isle, and now it's time to get started on the sleeves.

Also, C#1's first sock is done! They fit, a bit loosely, but with the big feet in my family that won't be the case by fall.

On the Needles Now...

1. Mohair. Aunt G.'s blue mohair sweater.

Still on sleeve #1. Don't ask.

I will say this though, mohair is really lovely, light and very warm. We used to have a mohair throw when I was a kid, and being a kid I didn't quite get how great it was. As I'm knitting this sweater, I keep thinking that a mohair afghan would be just lovely, and perfect for snuggling under when it's cold.

2. Fairly Easy Fair isle

Made some progress, but see the name of this sweater? I should be done now. What's my problem?

3. Socks for C#1

Nearly done with sock #1, simple toe up 2x2 rib. They look too big, but that's okay, I know his feet will catch up.

4. Socks for D.

Sock #1 done. He's an ingrate, he can wait.

5. I'm sure there's more, but by the look of things, don't you think I should just go get something done already?

Help, I have inertia and I can't get up!

Knitting has found me the best friends.

Look.

Aren't they absolutely gorgeous?

I am so lucky. These were sent to me by my friend, B. We met at knitting a couple of years ago, and we have had so much fun knitting together. She is a lovely person, and even though she denies it, she is quite glamorous. She reapplies her lipstick frequently, and without a mirror! She is also wickedly funny, which is probably why my knitting nights aren't so productive. They sure are fun, though.

B. , I am so happy to be able to call you my friend. Thank you.

Bougainvillea

I have fond memories of being in Thailand on an island that was covered with Bougainvillea, staying at a place with no electricity and very peaceful - so unlike the way my life is now.

When I saw Ann Hanson's sock pattern I just had to have it in that exact yarn. So I did it. I signed up for the Four Season's sock club from Dye Dreams. I got my first package and was totally thrilled - Bougainvillea! and a cute project bag - you never can have too many of those. I'm so excited!

It is so tempting to cast on, but the mohair monster has got to be finished this year. At least I've got about 1/3 of a sleeve done and it's simple, just a lot of counting for increases.

Finally.

I have made some progress. I have turned the heel in C#1's sock that I didn't feel like calculating the numbers for - it looks like crap, but it's a sock for a boy and I'm pretty sure he won't notice a couple of wonky stitches - unless he can feel them - not a big deal.

Next, I finally took my Fairly Easy Fair Isle of the needles to check the measurements. Hurrah! Good to go. Now I've got a bunch of mindless stockinette to do and then figure out some waist shaping. Not a big deal either, and I'm in need of some mindless knitting since I seem to have lost my mind - and my Knitters Almanac which is nowhere to be found.

Photos later, it is a very dreary, dark and rainy day. Photos are here! and if I knew how to put a line through the previous words I would, so just use your imagination to cover for my ineptitude. Thanks.

Uh-oh this post is being interrupted by an emergency surgery! Gotta go!

Things change.

The monster mohair sweater is moving along nicely. The back is finished and I cast on both sleeves to knit at the same time.

Problem #1:
Does not work so well to do this with mohair. Very sticky, tangly.

Problem#2:
When your yarn is over 10 years old, and you order some new yarn (just to be safe) - exactly the same - it isn't!!!
I thought all was good when the color was good, but no, there's this mystical knitting detail called "gauge" and it was way off. Plus under the mohair fuzz it almost had a boucle like texture. Not right.

I think I have enough, but that was quite a surprise. When the camera cable returns I'll post some new photos. I think.

Where is it?

My copy of Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitter's Almanac?

I need to make a February Baby Sweater...soon. No! It's not for me, are you kidding?

I would love to post some lovely photos here but someone has been mucking with the cables again, and I am out of luck!

Oh, well.
